Computer Science

The department of Computer Science exists from the very beginning of the college (2012). The discipline enables the students to be employable or explore new horizons in the way of higher studies and research.

Students choose to major in computer science for a variety of reasons. Many of our students graduate to rewarding computer-related careers in software development, testing, software engineering, system administration, research and development in private and governmental sectors.

Owing to the fact that information technology has made an impression in every discipline, most of our graduates acquire solid foundation which paves way for career in multifaceted disciplines. Demand for graduates well-versed in computer science is ever increasing in this information technology era.



Well equipped and state-of-the-art labs with updated technology are one of strongest assets of the college. The college takes pride at its labs that harbors favorable nurturing ground for personal growth, research and social progress. The maximum number of graduate students who return for post-graduation itself is an evidence of the quality of labs that the college offers. The college has computer lab and language lab to give practical training in respective field.

Computer Lab

The institution has a computer lab housing 40 computers with advanced configuration distributed across the buildings. The lab is interconnected through LAN networks and highly configured L3 switches are used for intelligent network management.

Language Lab

The institution has a language lab for improving their English, which helps them to perform well in competitive examinations such as IELTS etc.


The College Library is a gateway to a world of information. The library offers spacious seating arrangements and a calm ambience for learning.

Opening Hours

The Library is available for the use of all members of Fr. Porukara CMI College. Its working hours are 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Saturday.


The Library allows access to printed resources such as books, Journals and Magazines for the use of faculty and students at Fr. Porukara CMI College.

Circulation of Materials

Students may borrow books or Journals during working hours at the library Circulation Counter. A Student can borrow books by following the rules of the library. The books are issued for Students maximum Seven days & for the faculty maximum seven books for one month and then they may be renewed if no reservations on the items indicated. Fine will be charged on late return of books, periodicals and CD's.
Books and Periodicals borrowed from the library cannot be taken outstation unless special permission is given. Students should deposit their borrowed materials in the library before they go on leave.
Newly Arrived Journals/ Magazines & Newspapers Newly arrived Books and Periodicals cannot be issued out of the Library before a specified period.

Reference Books

Readers may reserve books or Journals for a period of one day by writing the name against the message ("Please leave"/"Don't disturb") and the date. This date may be changed once the reserved material is used, or the reserved material will be replaced on the shelves after the blocked date.
